Brad Ellis, of Vernon, VT, serves as the Executive Director for Vernon Advent Christian Home. Intrigued by the two bike tours completed by the Bike-4-Christ bicycling team, Brad plans to join them for part of their 2,400 mile Keys to Maine east coast tour this year. His itinerary will cover 650 miles over seven days ending with the tour in Fort Kent, Maine.
As the Bike-4-Christ ministry encourages team members to raise both awareness of and funds for a non-profit organization, this ride will allow Brad the opportunity to highlight the work at Vernon Home that is near and dear to his heart. For over 90 years Vernon Home has been truly blessed to be able to provide care and services to the elderly. From its roots of providing housing for retiring pastors and missionaries, Vernon Home has grown its services to include nursing home and assisted living facilities on its Vernon VT campus.
Brad will be riding to help raise funds to purchase and install an electrical backup generator at Vernon Green Nursing Home. “This new generator will replace our smaller, previous generator that failed after an extended power outage.” (Vernon Green is currently using a rented backup generator until a new unit can be installed.) The cost of the project is $200,000, but the benefits of having full power during an outage will be well worth the cost.
A financial gift to Vernon Advent Christian Home will make a difference in the quality of the care and services provided to those they serve.
